Lathi Charge at VFS Delhi, Jalandher & Chandigarh
To take advantage of the 1 day funds, thousands of prospective students gather at the VFS centres in Delhi, Jalandher & Chandigarh. Apparently students gathered outside the VFS more that 48 hours in advance to take advantage of these very liberal rules by the UK High Commission. So much was the rush at these centres that the police had to resort to Lathi Charge to control the crown. They they have stopped taking any more applications for the day at all the centres.
The future of thousands of prospective students seems uncertain now after this incident. Massive crowd is also reported to be gathered at the rest of the Visa Facilitation Centres at Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. I would be an immense challenge for the British High Commission to manage such huge student volumes. They general student opinion has been to request the British High Commission to further extend the one day fund deadline and slowly introduce the new stricter regulations which require you to show funds for 28 days.
